One of Australia's top institutions for both teaching and research is the University of Queensland (UQ). UQ has received more national teaching awards than any other Australian university because of its emphasis on teaching excellence.
South East Queensland is home to three UQ campuses. Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, is where the St. Lucia and Herston campuses of UQ are located. In 24 subjects, including sports-related subjects (2), mineral and mining engineering (5), environmental sciences (11), agriculture and forestry (17), education (19), nursing (21), psychology (23), hospitality and leisure management (27) and sociology, UQ is ranked in the top 50 worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019. The 268,000 alumni of UQ, including over 14,500 PhDs, form an active global network spanning more than 170 nations. On UQ's three campuses in South East Queensland, more than 53,600 current students, including more than 18,600 postgraduate students and around 18,000 international students from 134 countries, are enrolled. In addition to online application portals, UQ-approved agents can also be used to submit applications for admission to The University of Queensland. Students can submit an application for admission online. Through the QTAC Application, students from Australia who are pursuing an International Baccalaureate diploma may also apply.
